The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs fell 76-82 to the Middlesex County College Colts Thursday evening.
Although the Mustangs were ahead at half, leading 38-31 over the Colts, the team's second half performance handed them a tough 76-82 loss.
"I was really disappointed in our second half execution," commented Mustangs Head Coach Denny Surovec. "We are a better team than we have been showing."
Bright spots in the effort were performances by the Mustangs' returning sophomores. Omar Askia banked 19 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead his team in stats. Darnell Clowney and Jah'lil Williams followed with 17 points each. Clowney picked up seven rebounds while Williams tallied five assists and five rebounds. Freshman Darryl Foye also came up big on the boards with seven rebounds.
The Mustangs will look ahead to the four remaining games before the winter break to gain momentum and pick up key wins this season.
On the road next week, the Mustangs will take on the Delaware County Community College Phantoms. Then the team hosts three games at home against the Community College of Philadelphia, Harrisburg Area Community College and Salem County College.
