On Thursday, Baseball got to host a nationally ranked Northampton team, who came into the game ranked #3 in the country. Northampton had beaten Montgomery by a fairly large margin earlier in the season, so the Mustangs were ready to get some revenge.
Northampton got the early edge, taking a 3-0 lead. Montgomery chipped away at the Northampton lead, eventually bringing the score to 3-2. But the Spartans would not let the Mustangs come back that easily and scored three more runs.
Finally, with the score being 6-3 at the bottom of the ninth, the bases were loaded and the game-winning run was at the plate when Northampton got the final out and sealed the deal for the Mustangs.
Even though they lost, the Mustangs forced the game to go nine innings and turned their 18-8 loss in the first game to only a 6-3 loss in the second. The Mustangs will get another chace to show off against Manor College in a doubleheader on Saturday.
