The baseball team was looking to get a win on Saturday after two straight losses the previous week. Their opponent on Saturday would be Ocean County College, a team with a similar record as the Mustangs. Two seven inning games were scheduled for the day.
Despite having 6 hits (the same amount that the Vikings would have), Montgomery dropped the first game 6-0. The Mustangs left 8 on base in only seven innings and failed to capitalize on opportunities.
Thankfully, the second game would feature much better batting for both teams. Ocean would strike first off of a three-run homerun and take the lead. However, two RBIs from both Elias Gehman (FR, Christopher Dock) and Nate O'Donnell (FR, North Penn) would tie the game at 4-4.
Another home run gave Ocean another lead, this time 7-4. The Mustangs battled back scoring two, but the Vikings would not relinquish the lead. The Score was 9-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
The Mustangs managed to get two runners in scoring position. However, a runner getting picked off and a fly out would end the game at a 9-6 final score.
The Mustangs continue their first multi-game losing streak of the season, moving to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in Region XIX. The team will continue the incredibly difficult section of their schedule when they take on NJCAA Division II Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday.
