Baseball Survives Late Rally to Beat Williamson

Montgomery hosted the Williamson College of the Trades on Tuesday. Alex Bernhard, who was looking to improve his record as a starter to 6-1, started for the Mustangs and Bryan Archambo started for the Mechanics. However, Archambo would only last 1.33 innings, because Montgomery also started off hot.

The scoring started in the first inning, when Aaron Benner Brought in Luke Deleo. The Mustangs weren't done there however, and exploded in the second inning. Logan Curley began with a 2-run RBI, grabbing his 7th RBI in 4 games, on the way to a 5 run second inning. Alex Bernhard continued his hot pitching streak with 3 Ks. With a 7-0 lead heading into the 6th, Montgomery's win looked secure.

However, Williamson loaded the bases and grabbed two runs in the 6th. The Mustangs answered with one of their own, but Williamson added two more again in the 8th. To quell the Mechanics' momentum, Coach Fitzgerald put closing pitcher Luke Deleo into the game. In only two innings, Deleo had 3 Ks and allowed 0 hits and 0 ERs. Deleo's strong pitching closed out the Mechanics and secured the 8-4 win for the Mustangs.
