Consistent Scoring Keeps Baseball at Bay

Camden's consistent scoring led to 10 runs in seven innings and the Mustangs were unable to recover. Camden began building their lead in the very first inning, scoring one run and continuing that trend for five more innings. Montgomery was able to get one back, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Noah Ruiz that brought Logan Curley in, leaving the score at 5-1 in the fifth inning. From there, Camden added 5 runs in the sixth and seventh, making what was a manageable game a much more difficult comeback for the Mustangs. However, Montgomery would not be deterred, fighting till the very end. The Mustangs added a few runs, including a 2 RBI double from Will Brownlowe in the 9th inning. However, the nine run lead was too much to overcome, leading to an eventual 10-5 defeat.

9 errors were a huge part of the Mustangs' loss, as they only gave up three earned runs. Montgomery also outhit Camden 11-10, but the Mustangs couldn't turn enough of their hits into runs. Baseball is back in action on Wednesday, when they take on Rowan College at Gloucester County at home. The game starts at 3:30pm.
