BLUE BELL, Pa. - A six-run second inning powered Montgomery past Delaware County Community College, as the Mustangs snapped a two-game skid with an 11-1 win on Thursday.
Will Brownlowe doubled in a pair of runs as the Mustangs batted around in their half of the second. After Montgomery pitcher Nick Mikesic was hit by a pitch, the home team strung together five straight hits to put the Phantoms in an early hole.
On the mound Mikesic kept Delaware at bay in allowing just one run on seven hits. He struck out six and walked three in picking up the win.
Zach Zappo was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and two runs scored. Tommy Gallagher drove in a run and scored two thanks to a pair of hits. Kyle Pavlik also doubled for the Mustangs.
All told, the team generated 14 hits. Its final run came on a passed ball.
The Mustangs are back on the road Saturday for a 12 pm game at Valley Forge Military College.
