The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs lost 5-7 against the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College on Tuesday.
In what turned out to be a sloppy game for both teams, the Mustangs literally threw the game away. The Mustangs had five errors in the game, two of which occurred in the 7th inning leading to the eventual go-ahead and winning runs for the Phantoms. Zach Wasson, who is usually steady, had a rough game for the Mustangs only pitching six innings, giving up seven runs, only one of which was an earned run. He also allowed 10 hits and walked two batters, but was still able to keep his composure at times and record six punch outs.
Don Woodruff was able to supply the offense for the Mustangs out of the lead off spot with three of the Mustangs 12 hits, and he also came around to score twice.
The 7 to 5 loss halts the Mustangs 8-game winning streak and drops their EPAC record to 2-1 on the year and their overall record to 14-7. The Mustangs get right back into their EPAC schedule as they are on the road again at Bucks County Community College on Thursday, April 4th. The Mustangs return home for a Saturday double header against Bucknell University (JV) on Saturday, April 6th. The first game is scheduled for a noon start time.
