It was almost an upset for the undefeated Spartans of Northampton Community College. The Mustangs were looking for the win as they led the Spartans 6-5 after seven innings.
Zach Wasson, who pitched well for the Mustangs, was pulled in the middle of the eighth inning with two runners on base. Robert Walmsley proceeded to walk the next batter and then left a 1-2 fastball up in the zone. Spartans' clean-up hitter Jonathan DeJesus put it a considerable distance over the left field fence. The Mustangs got deflated and allowed the Spartans to tack on an additional three runs in the top half of the ninth and they went quietly in the bottom of the inning.
The Mustangs hit the ball very well with a slew of players getting two hits and Tim Sugalski leading the team with three hits. The Mustangs next contest is another EPAC game. They travel up to Luzerne County Community College on Thursday, April 11th.
The Mustangs previously defeated Luzerne back on March 27th 17-1 at home in which the Mustangs displayed solid team hitting batting .500 as a team (15 for 30). The Mustangs are at home next for a Saturday Double Header against Valley Forge Military College on April 14th.
