Men's and women's basketball were both looking to finish out 2019 with a strong showing. Both teams had completely different Novembers, with the men going 8-1 and the women falling to 1-6.
For the men, one of their biggest early season tests was a battle with Northampton Community College on December 5th. Both teams had fallen to CCP, meaning that match would be a battle for second place in the region and conference. The Mustangs fell in that matchup, dropping them to fourth in the region.
They would grab another win against Luzerne before falling to NJCAA Division II Del Tech. Their 2-2 December record was not how the team wanted to end 2019, despite sitting at fourth place in the regional standings.
Women's basketball on the other hand had a difficult November in a particularly tough part of their schedule. They started December off with bang, beating Harrisburg 68-20. That momentum pushed them forward to take a victory over conference foe Northampton and grab second place in the EPAC.
Finally, they finished their perfect December with a win over Luzerne. Their 3 game win streak includes a 27-point average margin of victory.
While both teams are doing well, they still have work to do to achieve success this season. The men's team currently sits at fourth place in the Region XIX standings, but will get a chance to take on the third place Middlesex team on January 7th.
The women's team would need to finish at least 8-5 over the last 13 games of the season in order for their overall record to qualify them for Region XIX playoffs.
Both teams will face off against CCP again, a match that could determine the winner of the EPAC for both teams. That matchup will take place on January 28th.
